The NodeBB team wishes you a happy and healthy (and booster-filled!) holiday season! With rising case counts due to the Omicron variant threatening to put everything back on hold, it's looking like it might be a quiet winter once again.

As usual, the development team has been hard at work improving NodeBB — implementing new features and fixing bugs. In addition to that, we have a few updates from the housekeeping end of things.

Staff Departures

This month we're saying goodbye to two long-time members of the NodeBB family, Andrew Rodrigues and Eda Usakli.

Andrew has been wanting to stretch his wings for quite some time, and has left the team to pursue new adventures. We wish him all the best.

Eda has decided to focus her energies on her family, and on her burgeoning career as a Mortgage specialist, best of luck!

You both will be missed!

On the Short Term Roadmap

Late last month, we publicly disclosed a trio of security vulnerabilities reported to us via our Bug Bounty program. We highly encourage all site administrators to upgrade to at least v1.18.5 of NodeBB.

We re-designed our website recently, in consultation with the local design firm KRFTWRK. Let us know what you think on our community forum!

This month we're looking to release v1.19.0, which contains deprecations to older websocket methods. Take a look at the running tally of breaking changes here. v1.19.0 will also contain some new API endpoints (chats), as well as some minor theme-related changes.

The NodeBB offices will be closed the last week of the year for the holidays. See you all in 2022! 🎉
