+ I put this thing in my cart and taken it out too many times to count before finally pulling the trigger.I still think I was right to buy a pair of electric sheet metal shears first as my primary sheet cutter, simply because of the waste. This thing rains down 10,000 razor sharp finger nail clippings, as opposed to a nice, long, curly 1/4” strip that can be repurposed for future projects.Still, this nibbler is perfect for cutting odd shaped holes which is where it shines. The whole kit is nice as well, as it includes extra parts and a sturdy case to hold everything together. Very happy with buying this as my “specialty cutter”. Easy to use, especially with the bench top holder also sold on Amazon.BTW, that holder has some sketchy reviews from people that melted their drill chucks because they weren’t thinking. In their defense, the hole for the drill is a stupid design that does more harm than good. But if you’re in the market for this, you’re creative…Be creative! Mount it backwards, or chop it off…

+ I thought a Kenmore dryers body would be made of a pretty thick sheet metal. I thought it was a lot thicker than the 16 gauge max of the Lnchett nibbler. I pulled the nibbler out of the box to admire the machining. It looked pretty good. Installed it into my drill and I thought I'd just nibble out about 1/4" and see what it involved. Hit the trigger and nibble out about a 1/2" and stopped. It was neither noisy or difficult to do. So I pulled on the trigger and cut out the about 4" hole in the side of my wife's dryer as if I've done this many times before. I believe this nibbler is one of the better values out there for cutting straight as well as curves in sheet metal simply and with tons of control. It really is very simple to use and it comes packed with extra heads and tool for replacing the heads & minor user repairs. This kit also comes with the step drill bit so quite complete. The most important feature is that its safe & not very intimidating. The Cons: I bought this tool because I needed to cut a duct hole in the side of my wife's dryer and that's it! So that is the con it is a one hit wonderful sheetmetal cutout tool with a really early involuntary retirement. Because I'm a tool pack rat I'll never sell it. Did I tell you about the cool case it comes in?

+ I chose this nibbler over an electric metal shear, mostly because I already have too many tools. I guess a man can never have “too many tools”... but what I hate the most is an electric tool that I will only use a handful of times a year.. if that. They take up space and the worst thing with buying a tool which only has one purpose... is exactly that! The propriety function of a sheet metal shear and the fact that it’s just one more thing that can fail on me, makes me think twice about shelling out the extra cash.
This nibbler is cheap, compact, comes with a spare cutter and also has 2 spare heads.... one of which is on the opposite side of the tool... it’s function being beyond me. It doesn’t cut as fast as an electric shear... it only nibbles a tiny crescent shaving at a time... but it does the job and isn’t horribly slow. One advantage this has over an electric shear is that you can make really tight radius cuts with ease.. for example, the corners of a square cut.
Warning! The shavings are extremely sharp and hard to see on the floor. I have been pulling these little half moon pieces of metal out of the soles of my shoes and have been poked a couple times when kneeling on the floor. They hurt like hell and can get stuck in you, so be careful. I ended up finishing my cuts with my piece inside a big plastic tub to catch the shavings. Made cleanup a breeze but somehow I still managed to get some pieces scattered around.
I can’t see this chewing through 16 gauge metal for too long. You’ll probably wear down the tiny lip on the cutting bit real quick or possibly breaking something inside the gearbox. I haven’t opened it up but I can’t imagine it being constructed of anything other than pot metals like the rest of this thing.
After cutting 3 roughly 12”x12” squares on some 20 gauge metal, the gearbox itself was noticeably warm to the touch... maybe should pop that apart and pack it with some grease. Anyway, did the job for me and I’ll probably reach for this thing another 2... maybe 3 times this year. I’ll bet it will last long enough for my use. If you plan on doing extensive metal work... maybe just get the nice electric shears which cut many times faster than this and will likely hold up to continuous use a lot longer.

+ Looks good but doesn’t replace my actual corded nibbler. Didn’t really cut good at all on just about everything I tried it on.(edited). After a quick and easy email conversation and some troubleshooting. I have found that it was not their issue. Everything can have a mistake and this one ended up being a incomplete mill job. With that said. They will fix any issue you have. Now I have a working nibbler and a happy experience.

+ This is my first time using a tool like this, so I don’t have a benchmark comparison. That being said, I needed to cut a 6 inch diameter hole in an 18 gauge metal cabinet, this nibbler performed flawlessly...very quick learning curve, smoooth edges, no sharp corners on cut edges. I’m impressed, a welcome addition to my tool box.

+ First of all, this is a nicely made product and nicely packaged. Even includes an extra anvil and an extra punch rod.
In use, it does a nice job - leaving a nice, clean slot (I was using it on 0.055" sheet metal - probably mild steel).
BUT!! Well, you know there would be a 'BUT'. It is not easy to use. The line you are trying to follow on the sheet metal is hidden a bit by the nibbler tip. So, for any accuracy, you really should make us a simple template or guide so you can press the 'tip' against it. You also have to hold the tip down so the tip edge is riding on the sheet metal. One more reason to have a guide of some sort. You should also secure the piece you are working on because you are going to be very busy guiding the rather cumbersome nibbler head and drill combination.
Despite the above comments it does nice work and does leave a nice clean edge. It is really cutting a round hole and not a square or rectangular hole. And it is quick! Hint: keep the bit and anvil well oiled.
